Previous Techniques
Slam Pad Drills
These are a series of drills designed to build
impact absorption and blocking skills in addition to punching and
kicking. They teach the student to flow from offense to defense and
can be a great endurance workout for all levels. You should start
slow with only the most basic movements and then add more signals for
specific techniques to the mix as skill is gained. After a while you
can basically be sparring with the focus mitts, yet the drill remains
safe to do. Use these photo techniques as inspiration, but do the
drills freestyle and not in any set format. Try to create the chaos
of a real fight! Once skill is gained, add in weapons or a second
person with focus mitts...


Lucas slams Kurt with the left pad and Kurt blocks
it, then follows up with a punch.


Lucas signals for a front kick, which Kurt delivers,
and then slams Kurt with the right pad.
